By-laws
By-law 1: Officers
Section1: President
Preside over the general membership and Executive Board meetings of the Boosters. Preparation of agendas for these meetings should include the input of the Secretary, Treasurer, and band directors.
Assist the other officers with their assigned duties as necessary.
Manage the ongoing business of the Boosters, which includes, but not limited to, continuous communication with committee chairpersons.
Section 2: Vice President
Preside at all general membership and Executive Board meetings in the absence of the President.
Chairperson of the Fundraising Committee.
Section 3: Secretary
Record the minutes of all General Membership and Executive Board meetings.
Copies of the Minutes, from the previous meeting, must be made available at all General Membership and Executive Board meetings. Minutes must also be provided to the Director of Bands and to the high school office.
Provide the membership with an updated Articles of Association and By-laws at the beginning of each school year.
Prepare correspondence as needed, such as thank you letters to band patrons for their donations to the Boosters.
Chairperson of the Spirit Committee.
Section 4: Treasurer
Manage the financial functions of the Boosters.
Ensure that all General Membership and Executive Board approved expenditures are processed and delivered in a timely manner.
Financial reports must be made available at all General Membership and Executive Board meetings.
By-law 2: Trip Guidelines
Section 1: Trips
Any trip must meet the requirements as set forth by the University Interscholastic League (UIL).
Any trip must have prior approval of the school board.
Overnight trips are for the members of the high school band.
Junior High Bands are allowed a one-day trip.
Frequency of trips will be determined by the accomplishments of goals as set by the directors and band, and by the availability of Booster funds.
Section 2: Chaperones
Chaperones must be a parent/guardian of a band student that is participating on the trip.
The Executive Board will have the authority to set the number of chaperones based upon the destination selected and from the recommendation of the band directors.
The Executive Board will make the final decision on who is selected as chaperones.
Chaperones must be active Boosters.
Section 3: Students
Students must have been a member of the Rice CISD band program for the entire school year or transferred from another school in which the student was a member of that school’s band program.
All students must meet UIL eligibility requirements for competition based trips.
A student may not receive a grade lower than an 80 in band for any given six weeks.
No unexcused absences from a performance.
Follow all rules and guidelines as set forth by the band directors.
